The Irish Hospice Foundation and Our Lady's Children's Hospital are hosting the following, one day education programmes in Cavan and Dublin 2010: -
Topic: Caring for the Child with a Life-Limiting Condition
Venue: Hotel Kilmore Cavan
Date: Tuesday 7th September.
This one day education programme is to all healthcare professionals from voluntary and statutory organisations who are occasionally required to provide care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
Topics addressed include healthcare provision for these children, supporting social and psychological needs, pain and symptom assessment and management, and ethical perspectives. There is no fee for this programme.

BAHT Level II Immobilisation and Mobilisation Splinting (8:00AM)
Dates: 9th 10th 11th Sept 2010
Venue: School of Occupational Therapy, St James’s Hospital Dublin 8
Course fee: - 500 Euros
This is an advanced comprehensive course on Static/Immobilisation and Dynamic /Mobilisation Splinting suitable for both Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists interested in Hand Therapy.
The course will include the theory and principles of splinting but will be mainly practical in nature.
Splinting for soft tissue conditions, compression syndromes, nerve injuries, thumb conditions, small joint trauma and hand fractures will be covered

Seating Assessment and Solutions (9:00AM)
Level 2 Intermediate- Advanced
Level 2 training builds on level 1 foundation training ( May 13th and 14th 2010 ).
Course Presenters are Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and Clinical Engineering menbers of the SeatTech Enable Ireland team based at Sandymount, Dublin 4. It is suitable for any healthcare professional responsible for assessing the positioning needs of children and adults with complex physical disabilities for seating.
Applicants should have attended a foundation seating course ( seatTech Level 1 or equivalent)and have a level of professional or educational experience which would promote an understanding of the anatomical and therapeutic terms used.
Course Content:
This 3 day course will include interactive presentations and hands on activity to include practical experience of assessing individuals with complex presentation. Modules include:
Development of sitting posture
Biomechanics
Assessment and measurement
Documentation
Pressure management
Pain
Product Parameters and Solutions
Risk
Outcome Measurement
