This 1-day clinical workshop outlines a broad classification model developed by Peter O’Sullivan for the assessment and management of CLBP disorders. This approach incorporates both physical as well as cognitive components and provides a multi-dimensional framework to manage patients with CLBP disorders. Major focus will be on developing clinical skills to assess and sub-classify pain disorders of the lumbo-pelvic region, where motor control has been compromised and is deemed to be an underlying basis for disorder. A motor learning intervention for the management of these disorders will be presented. This workshop draws together current knowledge as well as ongoing clinical work and research investigating the classification and management of CLBP disorders. This clinical workshop is dynamic, interactive and practical. It includes case studies, clinical reasoning and equips physiotherapists to develop skills in diagnostics as well as the design of motor learning interventions. About the presenter: Wim Dankaerts graduated as a Physiotherapist from the Catholic University Leuven, Belgium (1990) and received his Post Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Physiotherapy, from Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia (1995). In 2005 he completed his PhD at Curtin University. His doctoral research investigated the clinical reliability and validity of a novel clinical classification system for patients with CLBP that was developed by his principal supervisor, Associate Professor Dr Peter O’Sullivan. During his doctoral studies, Wim was a Lecturer at the prestigious Masters of Manipulative Therapy Program at Curtin University of Technology, Perth WA. Wim is currently working part-time in private practice as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and part-time as an Associate Professor (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy). He has published several papers and presented his research findings at many international conferences. He is accredited by Peter O’Sullivan to lecturer on this topic and has conducted many clinical workshops internationally . Fee: € 110. 7 CPD Hours. Lunch and refreshments provided. Location: University of Limerick: Friday, March 27th.
