Welcome from Sheelagh McNeill, ISCP President

Dr. Sheelagh McNeill, ISCP President

I am delighted to welcome you to the homepage of the website of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP).

Membership of the Society now stands at approximately 3,000 members. Over the last year the site has been significantly improved so that it is a site of choice for our members, other professionals as well as the general public. The members' area allows members of the Society to get directly involved with this website. The online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) section has been greatly expanded to facilitate ongoing professional development.

The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists is the Competent Authority acting with the approval of the Minister for Health and Children for accrediting undergraduate Physiotherapy programmes in the Irish universities. The Society is also the Designated Authority for the review and validation of qualifications obtained outside Ireland.

The Society is a national, professional body, respected and recognised both within and outside the profession, as the voice of Physiotherapy in Ireland. The Society advocates for the provision of a person-centred quality service that is accessible, effective, and humanitarian while advancing health and social gain. We support our members in delivering the highest standards of professional care. The ISCP is the sole Member Organisation representing Ireland on the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT).

Following the AGM in November 2010 the ISCP has moved to a single Board structure which is entrusted with the governance of the Society. The management and direction of the affairs of the Society are vested in this democratically elected Board which is the ultimate policy-making body.  As such, Board members must ensure that the Society complies with Company Law and other legislative requirements.
