Presenter Details Suzanne Carney is a Clinical Specialist in Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy. She is the founder and director of Anatomy Physiotherapy based in Claremorris, Co. Mayo.
 
Leah is a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. She graduated from University College Dublin in 2003 with BSc honours in Physiotherapy. Leah worked as a Senior Physiotherapist in the National Maternity Hospital since 2007 and was been part of the multidisciplinary team at the Pelvic Floor Centre, St. Michael’s Hospital, Dun Laoghaire since it commenced in March 2013, before setting up her own clinic in 2018.

The course is presented as a Hybrid Model, with online contect (via Teachable). This will be followed by an In-Person practical on 16th November.

Prerequisite learning:

● This course is for qualified, CORU registered Physiotherapists

● Level one female pelvic floor course complete.

● Competent and experienced in carrying out vaginal examinations on female patients

● Bowel course, advantageous

● There will be peer to peer assessment, your participation is not mandatory but is strongly encouraged. Each person should ideally be a model and an ‘examiner’

● This is a level two course - not for complete beginners to pelvic health but rather the next step in assessing and treating female pelvic floor patients. Please note - We will discuss pessaries, but this course does not cover pessary fitting or management.

Online content:

● Understand the mechanics and pathophysiology behind POP and the symptoms and quality of Life impacts experienced by patients

● 3 modules approx. 1 hour each

● Anatomy recap, defining prolapse, risk factors, epidemiology, classification systems POP_Q and Baden Walker

● Patient symptoms and impact

● How to assess/take a history, name and grade a prolapse - a complete description of how it’s done

Practical day - precise times may be subject to change - total 8 hours

Bonus catch-up session live Q&A via Zoom about a month after the practical day.
