Presenter Details Lucy Allen, Consultant Physiotherapist, BSc MSc MCSP HCPC  
Lucy began her career back in 2009 and has since worked in the NHS including work at the prestigious St Marks Hospital in Harrow. Lucy made the difficult decision to leave the NHS in 2019 to focus on her private practice and currently runs two private clinics based in Marylebone and SW London for all types of Pelvic Floor related problems. 
​Coming from an experienced musculoskeletal background, Lucy developed a passion for treating men and women with a range of pelvic floor issues. She is dedicated to helping clients become confident in managing their symptoms and regaining control over issues that can greatly impact day to day life. Lucy completed a Masters in Psychology to further support her clients emotional and wellbeing needs. She has recently become a mother herself to a little boy in September 2022.

The course is spread over 2 days and is aimed at clinicians starting out in their functional bowel career who are looking to learn how to competently assess and manage patients with a variety of gut disorders.

Learning outcomes:

-Be able to effectively and safely assess a patient with functional bowel dysfunction 

-Be able to formulate an appropriate management plan of a patient with functional bowel dysfunction 

-Confidently apply effective treatment modalities 

-Be aware and conform to professional nursing/physiotherapy standards in relation to the assessment and management of patients with functional bowel disorders.

Please note that the practical sessions include peer physical examination. All participants have the right to opt in or out of the practical sessions at any time. Participants are required to perform at least one digital rectal examination to pass the competency for DRE. A participant choosing to act as a model may opt out of having assessment or treatment techniques performed on them at any stage and valid consent procedures are used throughout the course. Privacy and dignity of participants who opt to be models will be maintained at all times. Consent forms will be provided prior to the start of the course.
