Presenter Details | Thilina Viatharana Also known as ‘T’, is a clinical specialist physiotherapist in SSC Sports Medicine. Thilina’s experience encompasses treating a broad range of sports and orthopaedic injuries. However, he predominantly focuses on lower limb rehabilitation with an interest in knee rehabilitation. He is CORU registered and a chartered physiotherapist with the ISCP. Thilina also holds the title of APA Sports & Exercise Physiotherapist with the Australian Physiotherapists Association.Thilina is currently completing his PhD into sensorimotor dysfunction following ACL reconstruction. He also holds a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy (University of Queensland) and a Masters in High Performance Sport (Australian Catholic University), alongside his BSc of Physiotherapy (University of Sydney). Thilina has more than 12 years of experience working with recreational, Olympic and elite athletes from various sports: GAA, rugby, cricket, Aussie rules, netball and athletics. He is a level 1 strength and conditioning coach with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association and is currently completing his level 2 accreditation.Outside of the clinic, Thilina works with the Senior Mens Monaghan Football Team. |

This course will take you through a full knee assessent, treatment and rehabilition. The course will include the latest evidence base for return to full function from common knee disorders in the athletic and non-athletic population. This course is a must for all physiotherapist graduates within the last three years to enhance skills and for more experienced physiotherapists looking for a recap on knee assessment and treatment aligned with the latest evidence. The course will include the following
- Overview of Knee anatomy and movement
- How to use practical skills of assessment to differentially diagnose presenting knee conditions including patella dislocation, ACL/ PCL / MCL / LCL ligament injuries , patellofemoral pain, meniscal / chondral pathology , patella tendinopathy
- Apply assessment of the lower limb kinetic chain and understand the contribution to commonly presenting knee conditions.
- Understand best practice management for commonly presenting knee conditions such as ACL injuries, patella instability and patellofemoral pain, meniscal and chondral injury and patella tendinopathy
- Apply appropriate acute , mid and end stage rehabilitation for commonly presenting knee conditions
- Explore specific rehab techniques from early stage through to end stage
- Practical skills of management including taping
- Understand the long term outcomes for common knee conditions
