Presenter Details Holly Tanner is a licensed physical therapist and massage therapist. She is the Director of Education for the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute and owns a clinical practice in Seattle, Washington as well as a consulting company. From the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota she earned her undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, Master of Arts in Physical Therapy, and a transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy. She has been teaching in the field of pelvic health for nearly 25 years and developed and instructed comprehensive coursework in men’s health over the past 2 decades. Holly holds ABPTS board certifications in Orthopaedics and Women’s Health, as well as certifications as an APTA Clinical Instructor and a Pelvic Rehab Practitioner (PRPC).

This 2 day in-person course covers many of the broad and overlapping conditions that present as pelvic dysfunction in men. Topics of sexual health, pelvic pain, urinary dysfunction and more will be covered. Current evidence will be provided as well as clinical progression and case examples. Lab skills will include external abdominal and pelvic assessment and treatment, internal anorectal examination and treatment, and genital examination and treatment.

Following completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify relevant anatomy for pelvic health of the pelvis, abdominal wall, and genitals
  • Demonstrate palpation of the abdominal wall, pelvic structures and pelvic floor muscles
  • Instruct in uptraining and downtraining techniques for pelvic for muscles (PFM)
  • Describe current research updates and treatment for post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence
  • Plan treatment programs for pelvic pain in men
  • Demonstrate 3 soft tissue manual therapy techniques each for abdomen, perineum and PFM.

Candidates must

  • Be currently practising with males
  • Have some experience in Men’s Health
  • Can show the value this course will bring to their careers (may be considered)
