The first part of this Introductory course is made up of 24 on-line modules available to book immediately through the BMAS website. Each module has one or two video lectures followed by multiple choice questions covering the theory of the Foundation course. The course is then completed with 2 full days of face-to-face needling sessions where attendees will be observed by an experienced demonstrator to ensure a safe needling technique.
Zoom support sessions are held twice weekly for questions and interaction with lecturers and other delegates. Access to online resources including interactive needling/palpation videos is also available.
The course fee includes one year's membership of the BMAS, tuition, a downloadable set of detailed course notes (paper copy available for £20, p&p extra), needles, sharps box and lunches and daytime refreshments on the practical days.
On completion of the course, we would expect the student to be equipped to start to practice medical acupuncture, and to be committed to completing the BMAS Certificate of Medical Acupuncture (CMA) within 12 months of the course. On achieving this award BMAS would consider the student to have reached a satisfactory standard for the use of medical acupuncture within their existing scope of professional practice.
- You must complete at least 12 modules and provide your Hepatitis B status before attending a practical session.
