James graduated from Trinity College in 2000 with a first class honors degree in Physiotherapy and completed his Masters in Sports Medicine in 2001. He has worked in private practice and elite-level sports since graduating, including :

Dublin GAA, 2001-04 & 2008– present

Leinster Rugby 2003– 2012

National Team Physiotherapist, IRFU 2012—2017.
