Basic Grade Physiotherapist  

Full-Time, Permanent position in Adult Services

 

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Basic Grade Physiotherapist to join our community-based service in Ballymun / Coolock and surrounding area. The role will involve providing physiotherapy interventions to adults with Intellectual Disability as part of a multi- disciplinary team in a range of community settings. The post will require some flexibility across the St. Michael’s House regions in response to service user needs.  Line management will be provided through the Physiotherapy Manager. Clinical supervision will be provided by an experienced Senior Physiotherapist and the Physiotherapy Manager.

The successful candidate will have the following:

 

Essential Criteria:

  • BSc or MSc Degree in Physiotherapy accredited by the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists
  • Be registered OR be eligible for registration on the Physiotherapy register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU
  • Have experience (including student placements) working with people with an intellectual disability
  • Have experience (including student placements) working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to support families and staff
  • Have an interest in working with adults with intellectual disability in a variety of settings and across the full range of Physiotherapy interventions with this population.
  • Be committed to the delivery of quality, person-centred, community-based services
  • Have excellent communication skills, time management skills and the ability to work in a self directed manner.
  • Evidence of a commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)

 

Desirable Criteria:

  • Minimum 6 months post-qualification work experience as a Physiotherapist within adult intellectual disability community services or other relevant areas.
  • Experience in the area of motor management.
  • Experience working with service users with balance issues and falls.
  • Experience in the area of health promotion and exercise.
  • Experience working/ volunteering in the disability sector.
  • Full clean driver licence and use of a car.
