Lead Inpatient Outpatient Physiotherapist (IPOP)

This Is An Opportunity To Join A World-leading Orthopaedic Hospital To Lead The IPOP Physiotherapy Department And Bring In-patient And Post-operative Care To The Highest Level. The Job Will Require The Candidate To Have The Skills To Improve Our Current Care Pathways, Empower And Educate The Orthopaedic Team And Wider Sports Medicine Department, Build Relationships With The Wider Multi-disciplinary Team And Engage With The Consultants In Providing First-class Care For Patients.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. To Be Responsible For The Day-to-day Running Of The Ward-based Physiotherapy Service And In-patient Care.
2. To Deliver A High-quality Service Of In-patient, Pre-operative And Post-operative Patient Physiotherapy Following The SSC Approach.
3. To Refer Where Appropriate For Engagement With The Referring Consultant Surgeon, Programmes, Sport Physicians And Outpatient Rehabilitation.
4. To Track The Numbers Of Patients On A Weekly Basis Being Seen By Inpatient Physiotherapy And Collate A Monthly Report Of This Data.
5. To Work Across A 7 Day Week Service.
6. To Ensure Appropriate Record Keeping And Electronic Patient Record, Including Billing, And Maintenance Of Good Practice In Data Recording And Evidence Based Medicine.
7. To Develop On-going Protocols And Evidence Based Management In Conjunction With The In-patient Physiotherapy And Out-patient Rehabilitation Teams.
8. To Be Responsible For Roster, Time Management (TMS) And Scheduling Of In-patient Physiotherapy Team To Suit The Demands Of The Ward Activity.

Secondary Responsibilities:

1. To Contribute To The Continuous Professional Development Programme In The Physiotherapy Department.
2. To Facilitate The Post-operative Care Pathways In Line With Sports Medicine Physiotherapy Streams.
3. To Develop Post-operative Protocols In Conjunction With Out-patient Stream Protocols To Fit With The SSC Pathway.
4. To Take On A Research Project Within An Area Of Interest That Leads To The Possibility Of Publishing At Least A Poster Or Paper A Year In A Peer Reviewed Journal And National Conference.
5. To Conduct An Audit Of Service Delivery On A Delegated Topic Of Interest.
6. To Identify Group Session Or Service Development To Encourage Participation By Patients In Rehabilitation.

Qualifications And Experience:

Requirements

• Bachelor Of Science (hons) Degree Or Equivalent
• MSc Physiotherapy, Strength And Conditioning, Sports Medicine
• 5 Years Post Graduate Experience
• Experience Working In Orthopaedic Or In-patient Environment At A Senior Level
• Must Be A Member Of The Irish Society Of Chartered Physiotherapists And Have CORU Registration
