Applications are invited for the Permanent- Full time position of Physiotherapy in St. Vincent’s Private Hospital.



Essential Criteria

The post holder must have:


  • Hold a degree in Physiotherapy or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Physiotherapist’s Registration Board at CORU
  • Be registered on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapist’s Registration Board at CORU
  • Be a member of, or eligible for membership of The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists
  • A relevant management qualification
  • Experience in the supervision and management of staff and resources
  • Have a minimum of five years satisfactory post qualification clinical experience and have the clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to fulfil the functions of this role
  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability, management, leadership and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office
  • The Physiotherapy service in St Vincent’s Private Hospital provides cover to all clinical areas and while this post is primarily managerial there will be an expectation to provide clinical cross cover to the respiratory, orthopaedic ad oncology services as patient caseloads demand
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to the rapid changes taking place in the health services
  • Work with the Director of Business Operations and Development in ensuring the coordination, development and delivery of a quality, up to date evidence based, client centred physiotherapy service
  • Develop and maintain guidelines and protocols relating to the SVPH Physiotherapy service
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Demonstrate the ability to evaluate information and make effective decisions in a resourceful manner within a model of person-centred care
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage and develop self and others in a busy working environment, to identify and facilitate change and improve service delivery
  • The ability to empathise and treat colleagues and patients with dignity and respect
  • Effective leadership, teamwork and supervision skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to delivering a quality user-centered service with foresight and future planning within allocated resources and relevant physiotherapy fields
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage budget and resources allocated to the Physiotherapy service (including value for money)
  • Be competent in weekend / on-call respiratory, oncology & Orthopaedic service provision and be a part of this roster as required
  • Mandatory Training



It is desirable for the post holder to have:


  • Experience and professional achievements in the development of new or enhanced physiotherapy services – inpatient and outpatient
  • Management of large physiotherapy or multi-disciplinary teams
  • Clinical experience in our 3 key areas – respiratory, orthopaedic and oncology, to include lymphoedema and exercise oncology




Key Responsibilities  

  • To lead, deliver and develop a physiotherapy service that meets patient and hospital service needs as part of the multi-disciplinary team in St Vincent’s Private Hospital. This includes the determination and organisation of work to be done, scheduling resources, being actively involved in the ongoing development and evaluation of systems and programs for the physiotherapy department
  • Establish a vision for the physiotherapy service, which is aligned to the Hospital's Strategic plan, and the physiotherapy profession of the future
  • Develop good working relationships with colleagues throughout the hospital, ensuring liaison with all appropriate disciplines in the provision of quality physiotherapy care, both in the in-patient and out-patient setting
  • To monitor service needs through analysis of activity, service trends, work practices and to manage and co-ordinate resources accordingly while being responsible for overall service performance. Submit findings to engage in service developments and audits
  • To keep up to date with advances in physiotherapy nationally and where appropriate internationally ensuring that professional standards are being maintained
  • To comply with and contribute to the development of policies, procedures and guidelines of the physiotherapy department and the hospital in general, in line with professional standards/best practice.
  • To maintain clinical competencies as per the relevant services within St Vincent’s private Hospital to support patient caseloads as required
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time
