  • Based in Harold’s Cross, Rheumatic & Musculoskeletal Disease Unit  

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Physiotherapy team in Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services.

The successful candidate will ensure safe, efficient and effective physiotherapy assessment, treatment and intervention for patients attending the Rheumatic & Musculoskeletal Disease Unit (RMDU) in Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services.  The successful candidate will work with the Physiotherapist Manager and other senior physiotherapists in ensuring the co-ordination, delivery and development of a quality, patient centred physiotherapy service.

The post entails provision of a land-based service to RMDU inpatients and outpatients and may include aquatic physiotherapy sessions to this patient cohort. The RMDU in OLH&CS is affiliated with the Rheumatology service in St Vincent’s University Hospital and progressing these links and developing care pathways will form part of this role, along with the other senior physiotherapists in the area. Supervision and mentoring of staff grade physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants and students will be an integral part of the role.  

Essential Requirements

  • Registration with CORU
  • Be a member of or eligible for membership of The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP).
  • 3+ years post qualification experience
  • 12 + months post qualification experience in the area of rheumatic & musculoskeletal disease
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills together with evidence of leadership in significant internal or external service development 

Desirable Requirements

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications in the area of rheumatic & musculoskeletal disease
  • Membership of or willingness to become a member of the ISCP Chartered Physiotherapists in Rheumatology and other related Clinical Interest Groups (e.g. Musculoskeletal Therapy)
  • Experience in aquatic physiotherapy
  • Experience in management of persistent pain conditions
  • Experience in conducting clinical audit and research
