Senior Spinal Physiotherapist Poynton SpineCare Institute (Location: Dublin )

Job Summary

  • To hold a key role in the rehabilitation of acute and chronic patients with spinal pain.
  • To be proactive in development of clinical effectiveness and evidence based practice at The Poynton SpineCare Institute.


The successful candidate will be required to report to the following;

  • The Clinical Directors on a professional basis and Operational Manager.

Principle duties of the Post

The successful applicant will be required;

Clinical Practice

  • To work successfully in a multi-disciplinary team setting, including Spinal Consultants, Physiotherapists and Spine Nurse Specialist
  • To rehabilitate spinal patients as part of a biopsychosocial rehabilitation framework, successfully assessing, designing and implementing bespoke treatment plans.
  • To have the skill set to treat complex and routine spinal patients with varied and mixed pathology, including surgical and non-surgical patients.
  • To communicate patients treatment care plans with relevant stakeholders effectively.
  • Professional Practice
  • To be a leader in setting clinical standards using evidence based practice.
  • To provide advice and support to colleagues on clinical issues.

Communication and Teamwork

  • To communicate with relevant stakeholders, including patients, family members, multidisciplinary team members and external healthcare professionals, using both verbal and non-verbal communication skills, in a clear, concise and well structured manner.
  • To work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Education and Research.

  • To keep abreast of new developments in the physiotherapy profession and identify opportunities to improve the service.
  • To assist in the ongoing development of in-service training.
  • To actively participate in research in spinal conditions and in clinical audits.

Selection Criteria


Candidates must have, the following professional qualifications and experience;

  1. Bachelors of Science (Hons) Degree in Physiotherapy/ Hold a qualification in Physiotherapy awarded outside of the Republic of Ireland which has been recognised by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.
  2. Be registered on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU and with The Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapist.

Annual registration

Candidates must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU and by the by the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP).


Candidates must hold a minimum of 3 years full-time or equivalent years post qualification experience.

Candidates must have musculoskeletal and/ or neuro-sciences experience.

Continuing Professional Development

All candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development in the form of post-graduate qualifications or relevant courses

Candidates must demonstrate past achievement in areas such as quality improvement initiatives and practice development.

All candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability to complete the mandatory duties at Poynton SpineCare  including adequate use of Information Technology services.
