Event Description

PD Warrior is an intensive exercise-based programme designed to drive neuroplastic change in people with Parkinson’s. This may be the one course that changes your entire clinical practice for the better in 2019. Learn how to improve function, quality of life and long-term exercise behaviour in people with Parkinson’s disease. 

This course will give you the introductory theoretical and practical skills to apply the key concepts of this intensive and neuro-active exercise approach immediately in clinical practice. This PD Warrior Course combines levels 1 and 2 to help you build on your knowledge of assessment, exercise prescription and motivational coaching to make a significant difference in people’s lives. It is ideally suited to Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Exercise Physiologists with experience in Parkinson’s. 

Presenter Profile

Jakko is an Accredited International trainer & Licensee of PD Warrior South East Wales, Clinical Director of Morrello Clinic. Along side his clinical work, he is the Honorary Chair of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists In Neurology (ACPIN UK) and has been teaching on neuro physiotherapy and service management internationally. Previously Jakko was for 12 years a Head of Service at the Welsh National Specialist SCI and Neuro Rehabilitation Unit at Rookwood Hospital. He was also the Therapy Lead for Neuro Sciences in Wales during that time.

He qualified as a physiotherapist in the Netherlands in 1995. From the start of his working career, his main area of interest has been the treatment of neurological conditions including Parkinson's Disease, Stroke, multiple sclerosis and traumatic brain injury. His ongoing interest in neurology was a leading force behind his completion of MSc in Neurosciences Physiotherapy at Cardiff University in 2005. He has since that time presented regularly at international and local conferences on his experiences and case studies from his clinical work.
