Event Description

This two-day course is for physiotherapists already working in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology and with experience of internal vaginal examinations. Experience of internal rectal examinations is not essential to attend the course. The course will provide insight into the complex anatomy of the female as well as the male pelvic floor anatomy and has a large practical component. Participants through their knowledge of anatomy will acquire skills and techniques to treat a wide variety of pelvic floor disorders. Many of the techniques are muscle and fascia specific and are based on the principles of trigger point therapy described by Travell and Simons. Participants are encouraged to practice techniques on each other in order to acquire the skills but also to experience the sensation of the palpation and resulting changes in their own pelvic floors under the hands of the participating therapists.
