The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland -  Southern Region  is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people, with intellectual disabilities, physical and sensory disability autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.

Permanent Part-Time (18.5 hours per week)

Kerry Intervention & Disability Services - North Kerry Team based In Listowel, Co. Kerry (0 – 18 years services)

The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region provides Physiotherapy services for children and adults in a number of locations across Cork and Kerry.  The focus of the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland - Southern Region Physiotherapy Services is to provide services for children and  adults with an intellectual disability, physical and sensory disability and children with Autism, at risk of/or queried developmental delay, speech and language and communication difficulties. Assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions are provided by a multi-disciplinary team. The Physiotherapy service aims to maximise the child/ adult’s full potential and works within the context of the family and community, empowering and supporting parents/care givers and family members.

 

The person appointed to the post will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing services to children and young adults 0-18 in Listowel, North Kerry Intervention and Disability Services.

 

The Candidate

1.Professional Qualifications, Experience etc.

a) Each candidate for appointment must

  • Hold a Physiotherapy qualification recognised by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU.                AND
  • Be registered on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU  OR
  • Applicants who satisfy the conditions set out in Section 91 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005, (See note below”), must submit proof of application for registration with the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU. The acceptable proof is correspondence from the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU confirming their application for registration as a Section 91 applicant.  

Note 1:

Section 91 candidates are individuals who qualified before 30th September 2016 and have been engaged in the practice of the profession in the Republic of Ireland for a minimum of 2 years full-time (or an aggregate of 2 years full-time), between 30th September 2011 and 30th September 2016 are considered to be Section 91 applicants under the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005.

 

AND

 

(b) Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.

 

(c)  Experience:

 

  • 1 year’s experience of working with children with physical/intellectual disability is essential
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary setting is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

The successful candidate must also have a full driving licence which qualifies them to drive on Irish roads with means of transport

 

2. Annual registration

  • On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU

                                                                                                        AND

  • Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)

 

Reporting Relationship:  Team Manager on operational issues and Clinical governance and Clinical supervision will be provided by the Head of Department.  The Physiotherapist will ultimately be responsible to the Director of Services.
