Event Description

The study day will provide an opportunity to learn about contemporary assessment and management approaches for people presenting with patellofemoral pain and:                                                              

  • Introduce a biopsychosocial approach to patellofemoral pain
  • Give you an opportunity to share latest research developments
  • Provide opportunities for learning specific skills around exercise prescription
  • Introduce you to strategies for dealing with physical activity and exercise management

Suitable for all clinicians working in primary care and physical rehabilitation settings including physiotherapists, and first line practitioners such as General Practice Nurses and GPs.

Presenter Profile

Dr Ben Smith is a clinical research physiotherapist and Honorary Assistant Professor based at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton and the University of Nottingham. He is an expert member of the 2019 International Patellofemoral Research Network - Pain Mechanisms and Psychological Variables Consensus Steering Committee. 

In 2015 he was awarded an NIHR fellowship to conduct a PhD related to the assessment and management of patellofemoral pain, particularly concerning exercise prescription.

He has published a number of research papers on patellofemoral pain and exercise prescription and has presented his work at international conferences.
