Rigo Concept for Scoliosis (BSPTS Course) - HSCP Funded
Venue: TBC
Dates: September 2026 (TBC)
Format: 3 consecutive days, in-person
Cost: €20
EOI to open: July 2026
Participant allocation:
This is a unidisciplinary event organised by the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP). The course has been funded by the HSCP Office, HSE.
As such, places are available to physiotherapists in the publicly funded healthcare service only.
Background:
Scoliosis and related spinal deformities require specialised assessment and management skills to support effective conservative care and optimise long‑term outcomes. Physiotherapists frequently report limited access to structured, evidence‑based training in scoliosis‑specific rehabilitation, particularly within Irish services. BSPTS is an internationally recognised, physiotherapy‑led scoliosis school that provides a clear, progressive framework for conservative management aligned with current best practice.
This course provides a structured entry point on the BSPTS professional development pathway, equipping physiotherapists with foundational knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to support safe, effective and standardised scoliosis care. By enhancing clinician confidence and competence in conservative management, the programme supports earlier intervention, improved care pathways and reduced reliance on surgical escalation where appropriate. Delivering the course locally supports workforce development, improves access to specialist training and aligns with national priorities for integrated, person‑centred care delivered closer to home.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
-
Understand BSPTS principles and their application in scoliosis management
-
Gain knowledge of conservative management approaches for spinal deformities
-
Explore international standards and pathways for scoliosis care
-
