Presenter Details I hold a BSc. (Hons 1st Class) in Osteopathic Medicine, I am registered osteopath and run Stephen’s Wood Osteopathic & Wellness Clinic in Cork. I have five years’ experience teaching structural osteopathy, anatomy and pathophysiology at degree level. I also run Stephens Wood Manual Medicine where I teach a wide variety of hands on technique based courses.
I also hold qualifications in Orthopaedic Dry Needling, Craniosacral Therapy, Strength & Conditioning, and Sports Taping and Strapping. I typically travel to the UK about four times every year to train with various manipulative practitioners in order to enhance my own skills.
I have an extensive background in sports including athletics, boxing, triathlon and bodybuilding. Previous to becoming an osteopath, I served as an officer in the Irish Defence Forces, where I held a wide variety of appointments at home and overseas, including service in the Special Forces Unit of the Irish Defence Forces, The Army Ranger Wing.
All of these things, combined with a love for teaching others, give me a unique insight in the way I treat and teach.

On this two-day Spinal Manipulation CPD Course you will learn thoracic & lumbar spine mobilisation and manipulation techniques. The course is for qualified manual therapy professionals only and aims to provide manual therapists with the knowledge and hands-on experience to diagnose and treat spinal dysfunction using mobilisation techniques, Muscle Energy Techniques (MET’s) and High-Velocity Thrusts (HVTs).

The thoracic and lumbar spine are crucial areas of the body responsible for supporting posture, mobility, and overall musculoskeletal function. This course will cover anatomy, innervation, neurological testing, orthopaedic testing, spinal mechanics, MSK and non MSK conditions. We’ll cover diagnostic assessment of spinal dysfunction and discuss and how that applies to treatment. Practical techniques taught include MET’s, mobilisations and a variety of manipulations. All topics will be covered in detail and extensive notes will be given to ensure safe practice. By the end of the course, you should be able to assess, diagnose, and treat conditions of the spine, addressing common issues like low back pain, and spinal dysfunction.
