I graduated from Brunel University in 2007 with a BSc in Physiotherapy having trained in prestigious London hospitals like Royal Free in Hampstead and Charing Cross Hospital. My first post-graduate post was in Beaumont Hospital followed by Navan Hospital and a move to the School Aged Disability Team in 2009.
Now, with over 15 years of Paediatric experience including Early Intervention, my areas of speciality include Neurodevelopmental Delay, Movement Disorders, Sensory Sensitivity and Integration, Hypermobility, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down’s Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy. Assessment of children can include any of the following; posture, gait, gross motor and motor planning skills, co-ordination and the contribution of any biomechanical dysfunction.
Treatments delivered are as diverse as the children’s needs and can include any combination of the following: hands on facilitation to aid normal movement, specific training targeted at specific child/parent goals, provision of home exercise programmes, education regarding any condition treated, practical advice on environmental changes or adaptations, guidance on choice of footwear and provision of orthotics.
Throughout my career, I have enjoyed continuous professional development to maintain and enhance my clinical skills and knowledge and have linked with practitioners on world-wide forums in recognition of the complexity of some children’s needs.
I remain committed to providing the best care and intervention, through my own development, providing quality and evidenced-based input to all children. Doing this can involve my linking with other professionals in the medical (acute and community settings e.g. consultants and GPs) and allied health (e.g. Speech and Language and/or Occupational Therapists) professionals to provide a holistic and wrap-around approach to delivering therapy.
