Dublin Senior Hurling is seeking an experienced Lead Physiotherapist to join its high-performance medical and performance team.

The Lead Physiotherapist will take overall responsibility for the physiotherapy and injury-management provision for the Dublin Senior Hurling Team, with the key objective of maximising player availability, protecting player welfare and supporting sustainable elite performance.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Team Doctor, Head of Strength & Conditioning, Head Coach, Team Manager and wider performance support team.

Time Commitment 

The successfull candidadte will be required to start on November first 2026 and be avaiable to attend all games and sessions throughout the season up to July 2027 - The successfull cadidate will need to fully commit as if they were a current player playing at and inter-county level.

Key responsibilities include:

• Injury assessment, diagnosis and treatment

• Injury prevention, screening and player profiling

• Rehabilitation and return-to-play/return-to-performance programmes

• Match-day and training physiotherapy provision

• Player availability and readiness reporting

• Contributing to training-load and injury-risk management

• Recovery and ongoing player management

• Coordination of imaging, specialist referrals and external providers

• Clear clinical documentation and communication across the performance team

• Supporting continuous improvement of the team’s medical and rehabilitation processes

• Oversight and coordination of any additional physiotherapists working with the squad 

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a physiotherapist with:

• High-level sports physiotherapy experience

• Proven experience working within high-performance sport

• Strong clinical reasoning and injury-management skills

• Experience in rehabilitation and return-to-performance decision-making

• Excellent communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills

• The flexibility and commitment required to work within an elite inter-county sporting environment

• A proactive approach to injury prevention, player development and athlete welfare 

Time Commitment & Compenstaion

The role involves regular training and match-day coverage, typically including Tuesday and Thursday training sessions and weekend match/training commitments. While physical attendance is not required every day, the medical service operates as a seven-day player-support function throughout the competitive season, with ongoing communication between sessions.

Payment will be on a pay per session in line with a high perfomace envirmonment and will be discussed and clarified during the interview stage. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sports physiotherapist to take a lead role within a high-performance inter-county environment and contribute directly to the health, availability and performance of Dublin Senior Hurling players.
