VACANCY: Senior Physiotherapist  - Cardiothoracic Surgery/ICU

Applications are invited for the position of Senior Physiotherapist – Cardiothoracic Surgery/ICU  in the Mater Private Network Physiotherapy department Cork.

As part of the new service development, Mater Private Cork will commence CT surgery in the coming months and open a state of the art Intensive Care unit to support same.

The post-holder will manage the respiratory services provided by the physiotherapy dept, ensuring that standards are maintained, including training of physiotherapy staff  and maintenance of equipment. The services include ICU and Acute Respiratory - Cardiorespiratory and Surgical and advice and education to colleagues in other areas providing respiratory input.

Essential Criteria: 

1. Possess a University qualification in Physiotherapy such as the Bachelor in Physiotherapy (Hons) degree from the National University of Ireland or equivalent (see CORU website for full list)
2. Be registered on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU
3. Be a member of or be eligible for membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.
4. Have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience including ICU/Respiratory services
5. Awareness / Sensitivity toward patient needs.
6. To show initiative and work without direct supervision.
7. Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team with a flexible and adaptable approach.
8. Key to this role is that the candidate has a proven track record of a positive attitude and a can-do approach which is demonstrated in their excellent interpersonal skills.
9. Experience in Intensive Care Respiratory mandatory. Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery desirable.
