Contribute, connect and explore volunteering opportunities.
Get Involved: Volunteer with the ISCP
We offer a wide and meaningful range of volunteer opportunities for members at every stage of their career. Whether you want to contribute to clinical leadership, professional development, governance, education, events, or the Society’s publications, there is a place for you.
Volunteering is an excellent way to develop skills, build connections, and contribute to the advancement of the profession.
1. Volunteer on a Group Committee
Clinical Interest Groups (CIGs), Employment Groups (EGs), Niche Groups and Working Groups are member‑led communities focused on advancing practice, education, and professional development in specialised areas of physiotherapy.
Each group is managed by a committee of volunteers who organise CPD events, share expertise, support members, and represent the profession nationally. Groups are always seeking new committee members, and it’s one of the most accessible and impactful ways to contribute to the Society.
If you are interested in joining a committee or would like to learn more, please contact the relevant Group Chair or email memberofficer@iscp.ie.
2. Student Volunteering
Student members play an important role within the ISCP and can gain early experience in leadership, event coordination, and professional engagement.
Opportunities include:
- Contributing to Clinical Interest Groups
- Participating in Standing Committees (where appropriate)
- Joining the ISCP Student Network
- Supporting major ISCP events, including:
- Dublin Marathon Expo – particularly suitable for students
- Annual Conference
Volunteering as a student offers hands‑on experience, networking, mentorship, and a strong foundation in professional practice.
3. Join a Standing Committee
Standing Committees are core functional units of the Society that help develop policy, drive strategic initiatives, and support the profession nationally. Each committee reports to the ISCP Board and focuses on a specific area of the Society’s work.
Committees include:
- Communications Standing Committee
- Finance & Audit Standing Committee
- International Affairs Standing Committee
- Professional Development Standing Committee
- Professional Procedures & Ethics Standing Committee
Some committees require specific criteria or expertise, and positions become available as vacancies arise. If you are interested in contributing your skills, contact memberofficer@iscp.ie for more information.
4. Serve on the ISCP Board
The Board provides governance, strategic direction, regulatory compliance oversight, and organisational leadership for the Society. Board members are elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting.
Serving on the Board is a significant leadership role offering the opportunity to shape the future of the profession at national level.
Members interested in future Board opportunities may contact memberofficer@iscp.ie for guidance.
5. Volunteer at Events
Dublin Marathon Expo
The ISCP hosts a stand at the Dublin Marathon Expo each year.
The Expo runs on the Friday and Saturday of the October Bank Holiday weekend, ahead of Marathon Race Day on Sunday.
Volunteers help with:
- Meeting the public
- Providing physiotherapy information
- Representing the Society
- Supporting event logistics
This opportunity is ideal for students and members seeking a friendly, high‑energy volunteering experience.
Annual Conference
Volunteers play an essential role in the success of the ISCP Annual Conference, supporting:
- Registration and delegate assistance
- Speaker management
- Exhibition hall support
- Session coordination
- Social media and communications
This is a valuable opportunity to meet peers, support ISCP’s flagship event, and strengthen your professional network.
6. Contribute to ISCP Publications
Firsthand Magazine
Firsthand is the ISCP’s member magazine and a platform for sharing stories, clinical insights, case studies, and group updates. Articles with photographs, features, and lasting reference material are especially welcome.
