ISCP Launch Advanced Practice Physiotherapy Report
The Advanced Practice Physiotherapy (APP) report was commissioned by the ISCP to provide an evidentiary summary of current APP practice in Ireland.
This report provides compelling health economic and clinical evidence to support increased advanced practice opportunities for physiotherapists in Ireland. The report was presented to Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly on the 25th of March.
This report was completed by Dr. Marie Ó Mír, ISCP Advanced Practice Project Officer. Dr O Mir completed her report, evaluating current advanced practice activity amongst physiotherapists nationally. Specific attention has been given to the evidence around medical radiological imaging in order to advocate for legislative change with the Department of Health and the HSE. A scoping review of the literature was completed, as well as a survey of physiotherapists nationally, to identify the national as well as international evidence of the efficacy of advanced practice.
This document is designed as a reference document and the sections are consequently designed as standalone sections. This will mean that if reading the full document the reader will encounter repetition.
