Guide for members resuming classes
The guidance with regards to resuming with indoor classes remains unchanged.
The ISCP suggests that where physiotherapists can determine that staff providing rehabilitation classes and attendees are all fully vaccinated, combined with a full risk assessment (as previously used) they could consider recommencing in-person classes from 5th July onwards. In addition to providers and attendees being vaccinated, resumption of rehabilitation classes should be guided by an informed risk assessment on a class-by-class basis and the need to comply with HSE and HPSC COVID-19 infection prevention control guidelines.
Please refer also to the ISCP checklist www.iscp.ie/file_downloader.php?file_id=1722 which provides points to include when undertaking your risk assessment such as numbers proportionate to space, accessing and exiting building, ventilation, etc. The aim of this guidance is to support reopening of services while acknowledging ongoing risk of COVID-19 and community transmission pending deployment of the full national COVID-19 vaccination programme.
Prior to resuming with indoor rehabilitation classes, consideration needs to be given to:
- Purpose of the class – potential rehabilitation, therapeutic outcomes
- Limit attendance to those with vaccine protection
- Limit to provision by physiotherapists with full vaccination protection
Where possible:
- Continue to deliver classes by telehealth
- Continue with 1:1
- Continue with outdoor classes
Our priority is to continue to keep you informed. If you have any questions, comments or resources to share with us, please get in touch by emailing info@iscp.ie
